The four types of matter a solids, liquids, gas, and plasma. For example a basketball is a solid. Matter is anything that has mass and volume. Matter is everything and everywhere. A liquid is water if you pour out water from a cup it will stay together, liquid has definite volume but can change the shape and take the shape of the container holding them.  A gas would be like air.
